Simply stunning black and white ring is actually Peanut wood, a rare type of black, silicified petrified wood primarily found in Western Australia and known for its distinctive cream-colored, peanut-shaped markings. Formed around 120 million years ago, these markings are actually boreholes created by marine boring bivalves (clams) in Cretaceous-era driftwood.

The material is found in the Kennedy Range area near Carnarvon, Western Australia. It was formed when radiolitia bivalve larvae bored into floating conifer wood, leaving holes that were later filled with radiolarian-rich sediment as the wood sank and petrified.
