Each link, both copper and sterling silver, is sand cast individually, a fascinating process that is centuries old. Sand casting is the oldest known casting process and can be traced back to the Bronze Age in China in around 2000 B.C. The basic process involves a mold made of compacted sand with additional material that allows it to maintain its shape more easily. The metal is then poured into that cavity, cooled and released. The resulting cast piece is then cooled, cleaned up and ready to be incorporated into the design of your choice!
These links have been cleaned but retain some of the marks and it earned during its making which only enhances its rustic appeal.
