Turquoise from the Number 8 Mine was first mined in 1929. The mine is located in Eureka County north of Carlin, Nevada. The turquoise from this mine is mostly composed of a matrix of spider web type with varieties of black to gold brown with various shades of blue material. The mine is no longer mined for turquoise but currently mined for gold. The last owner of the mine, closed in 1976, stockpiled a large amount of superior material. Once this stockpile is depleted, there will no longer be any availability.
