Stunning on its own or layered with others, this striking lapis lazuli and green roman glass beaded necklace is sure to impress. A handmade sterling silver hook and extender chain give this piece maximum versatility.
These beads are formed from glass excavated along the famous 'Silk Road' of Roman times. Lots of goods of the Roman Empire were traded eastwards along the Silk Road and many fragments of cookware, bottles and other household items of this time period are still found in the middle east. The glass remains are said to be at least 2000 years old.
The ancient glass shards are made into beads by skilled artisans and still display a wonderful rustic appearance. We paired these with some lush cobalt blue Lapis Lazuli beads from Afghanistan enhanced with a handmade sterling silver clasp and extended chain.
