Sonoran Gold Turquoise Sterling Silver Drop Earrings by Navajo artist, Tim Vandever - talk about statement earrings! Wow! Five skillfully bezeled Sonoran Gold turquoise cabs drop in sequence from a stud attachment in the first. These earrings hang comfortably and securely from wide silicone and sterling silver ear nuts that spread the weight of the earring more than the traditional small earring back.
Sonoran Gold Turquoise is found in Sonora, Mexico and is prized for its color depth of Greens, Blues, and Yellow and Gold Matrices. Mined close to the city of Cananea, this turquoise is a relatively new discovery and, unlike most turquoise, is not mined in veins but rather as individual nuggets typically found in clay deposits.
These particular Sonoran Gold cabochons are well matched in brilliant shades of blue and green with a complimentary matrix only nature could do so well.
