Western style cross earrings are handmade from hammered copper sheet and sterling silver wire. Sterling silver is hammered and soldered to form a cross which is then soldered to a 1-1/4" x 3/4" hammered copper plate. 16 gauge wire is then formed into a half circle and forms the 'hanger' by looping into holes in the top of the hammered copper plate. Deceptively light to wear, this curved wire allows the earring to catch the light as it swings lightly from the ear. The copper plate is oxidized to show texture and make the polished sterling silver cross really pop! Handcrafted sterling silver ear wires are very comfortable to wear all day and/or evening.
